Standards for Audio Compression
Digital audio is an integral part of any video or multimedia application and may consume a considerable portion of the overall bandwidth. Therefore, efficient compression of the audio data is as important as the efficient compression of the video data. There are two main parameters that control the quality and the bit rate of digital audio: the sampling resolution (that is, bits per audio sample) and the sampling frequency.
