Abstract

Over time, health care information systems have evolved, moving through several different phases of technology. These phases roughly correspond to the phases of the health care industry outlined in Table 2.2 in the previous chapter. In addition, one can also observe an evolution in the way that hospitals conceptualize and manage information systems.
