Foundations for momentum transfer

  • John C. Slattery

Abstract

We begin this chapter by looking at the implications of Euler’s first and second laws at phase interfaces. Our emphasis is upon the forces that appear to act within a dividing surface. We have long been familiar with interfacial forces in static problems, where we speak of surface tension. Here we study the forms that these forces may take in dynamic problems.
