Cosmic Gas and Dust

Part of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Library book series (AAL)

In this chapter we will try to define a common framework within which most of the processes involving astronomical gas and dust clouds can be understood. Before we can do that, however, we should know something about the temperature, density, state of ionization, and linear dimensions of the clouds and we should summarize the information we have about dust grains.
