Effects of Shape and Orientation to be Considered for Optical Particle Sizing

Abstract

The light scattering features of particles are closely related to their size, material, shape, and structure. This is the reason why this phenomenon is frequently used for particle measurements (aerosol photometer, optical particles counters, etc.). The major advantage of this technique is, that the measurements can be carried out without disturbing the particle system significantly.
