Glomerular Structural Changes in Diabetes Mellitus

  • Chapter
The Kidney and Hypertension in Diabetes Mellitus

Part of the book series: Topics in Renal Medicine ((TIRM,volume 6))

Abstract

Glomerular structure in diabetes presents a number of very intriguing questions that have been dealt with in the past. The most important aspect of the alterations in the diabetic kidney is the fact that, due to the glomerular abnormalities, a great proportion of young diabetic patients will eventually succumb to end-stage renal failure.
