Scrotal Scintigraphy

Abstract

The use of scrotal scintigraphy has dramatically improved our ability to evaluate children with acute testicular pain. Before the introduction of this technique in 1973 by Nadel et al.,25 the differentiation between testicular torsion and epididymitis was frequently impossible on purely clinical grounds.17 It often required scrotal exploration for definitive diagnosis.
