Individual Differences in the Expressivity of Neonates and Young Infants

Individuals may differ in the production and discrimination of facial expressions as early as birth. These differences may relate to other individual characteristics such as temperament, autonomic reactivity, and social responsivity. In this chapter I will briefly review research by others and by our group on individual differences in expressivity at the neonatal stage and during early infancy.
