Abstract
In a number of papers (1–4) it was established that an addition of hydrogen to titanium alloys increased their plasticity and reduced resistance to deformation in hot forming processes. The favorable effect of hydrogen on deformability of titanium alloys depends upon their phase composition. This paper deals with the results of high temperature tensile tests and resistance to cracking in compression tests of VT1-0 titanium and its VT3-1, Ti9A1 and ST5 alloys with hydrogen content from 0.004 wt% (vacuum annealed) up to 0.6 wt%. VT1-0 titanium and VT3-1 alloy in the form of forged rods 20 by 20mm and Ti9A1 and ST5 alloys in the as-cast state were used for the study.
