Influence of Forging Skin on Fatigue Strength of die Forgings in Ti-6a1-4v Material

Abstract

In view of their relatively high material and machining costs it appears desirable to produce titanium die forgings approaching the final contours as closely as possible. This does not only permit the most economical use of forging stock, but also helps to reduce the actual machining effort. As with other materials, one endeavours to supply titanium die forgings which have to be machined in the attachment areas only.
