Serology and Serodiagnosis of Coccidioidomycosis

  • Chapter
Coccidioidomycosis

Part of the book series: Current Topics in Infectious Disease ((CTID))

Abstract

Serologic tests have achieved great utility in the diagnosis and management of coccidioidomycosis. The use of information from serologic studies must of course be tempered by appropriate clinical data and other laboratory data. The latter include the sine qua non of diagnosis, i.e., demonstration of Coccidioides immitis in the tissues or its recovery in culture.
