Ball Lightning

Abstract

Ball lightning as well as bead lightning is considered by many to be an atmospheric electrical phenomenon observed during thunderstorm activity. It is reported to be a single, self-contained entity that is highly luminous, mobile, globular in form, and appears to behave independently of any external force. The ball lightning phenomenon is also known by many other terms: globular lightning, balls of fire, lightning balls, kugelblitz, globes de feu, tonnerre en boule, coup de foudre en boule, foudre globulaire, éclair en boule, fulmini globulaire, sharovoyi molnii, kugelynet, and klotblixtar, to name a few.
