Light Scattering Experiments from Solutions of Ionic Micelles near the Critical Micelle Concentration

It is well known that amphiphilic molecules in water may self-aggregate to shield their hydrophobic portions from the solvent. The aggregates are called micelles. Measurements performed with many different techniques indicate that micelles are formed only above a given concentration of amphiphile, called the critical micelle concentration (cmc)1.
