Comments on the Tryptophan Lifetime Puzzle

Abstract

Until 1972,1 the fluorescence decay of tryptophan was believed to be singly exponential with a lifetime on the order of 3 ns (the “classic” value), but in the last few years a number of published reports have generated amazing confusion in this particular subject (Table 1).
