Abstract

Over the past twenty years there have been significant advances in the understanding of the biochemical mechanisms by which steroid hormone interaction with specific receptors elicits biological responses in target cells. A complete discussion of the available data on this subject is beyond the scope of this paper. We will focus our attention on the currently accepted two-step pathway of intracellular interaction of steroid hormones.
