The Mössbauer Effect in Cs133

Abstract

The recoilless nuclear gamma-ray resonance of the 81-keV transition in Cs133 has been observed and a number of experiments have been done and reported to date by the author and his collaborators. This paper discusses the following subjects, (1) properties of the transition; (2) appearance of the pulse-height spectrum; (3) preparation and properties of the sources; (4) apparatus used in the measurements; and (5) a summary of experiments to date.
