Abstract

In free flow micropuncture experiments performed in rats undergoing moderate mannitol diuresis and infused with small amounts of urate (plasma urate: 1.1 ± 0.1 mg /100 ml), the concentration factor for urate (TF/P urate) in 15 samples of proximal tubule fluid was 1.7 ± 0.2 (mean ± SE) and the fraction of filtered urate recovered (TF/Purate: TF/Pinulin) 1.3 ± 0.1, indicating net secretion of urate.
