Influence of a Uricosuric Drug on Connective Tissue Metabolism

Abstract

Benzbromaron acts as an uricosuric substance, but there is a quantitative discrepancy between uric acid excretion and the depression of uric acid level in blood serum. In figure 1 you see that there is an increased excretion of uric acid but there remains an amount of uric acid, which is not due to the increased uric acid excretion. Benzbromaron is in vitro a xanthineoxydase inhibitor, but as you see from these experiments there is no decrease in oxypurine excretion after benzbromaron application.
