Medical sociology training for medical doctors
From the title that the organizing committee of this Seminar choose for my presentation (educational objectives in medical schools), it is not clear whether the emphasis should be on educational objectives of medical schools as a whole, or on educational objectives of sociology-teaching within medical schools. But far from feeling unhappy about this seemingly ambiguous instruction, I am inclined to say that the committe should be praised for its wisdom. For we may safely assume that they themselves realize that teaching medical sociology to future physicians can only aspire to attain its goals if the sociological objectives are subsumed to and form an integral part of the educational objectives of medical schools in general. And this is exactly the stand that I shall take too.
