Optical Analog of the Mössbauer Effect

  • R. H. Silsbee
Part of the Optical Physics and Engineering book series (OPEG)

This chapter consists of a discussion of certain aspects of the influence of the lattice motion in crystals upon the optical absorption spectrum associated with localized defects in the crystal. The central theme might be considered the phonon broadening of optical spectra. The relevance of these remarks to the title will become apparent shortly.
