On the Phase Inversion in H2O — Oil — Nonionic Surfactant Systems and Related Phenomena

In 1970 Saito and Shinoda(1) published a figure (Fig. 1) showing the effect of temperature on the volume fractions of the equilibrium phases of the ternary system
$$ H_2 O(A) - Cyclohexane(B) - NP_{8.6} (C) $$
where NP8.6 stands for the surfactant polyoxyethylene (8.6) nonyl-phenylether. The figure also shows the effect of temperature on the interfacial tensions between these phases.
