Radiative Heat Exchange in a Nonabsorbing Medium

Abstract

In the space between bodies maintained at different temperatures, the properties of thermal radiation will differ from the properties of equilibrium radiation. In this event the radiation will be nonuniform and anisotropic. It will represent the sum of the thermal radiation emitted by all the bodies. Unlike the case for equilibrium radiation, the radiant emittance will now depend on the properties and temperature of all the bodies and the medium occupying the space between the bodies [1].
