Abstract

The number one problem in industry today — the problem which encompasses all research and engineering — is how to make available needed information from the myriads of publications that are daily being published. To the librarian or documentalist, it is a problem of keeping from sinking into a morass of the very thing he deals in. To the engineer or scientist, it is a problem of finding the facts he needs, of not needlessly duplicating research, or of cutting the lead time on an important project.
