Energy Balances for Biomass Conversion Systems

  • Raphael Katzen
Part of the NATO Advanced Science Institutes Series book series (NSSA, volume 67)

Biomass conversion systems of any type, irrespective of feedstocks utilized, must be measured on a consistent scale which identifies the energy efficiency of the process and of the overall system. Accurate energy balances, as well as material balances, must be developed so that potential commercialization can be evaluated on the basis of energy efficiency, as well as technical and economic criteria.
