Some X-Ray Diffraction Spectra and Characteristic Properties of Deuterium Oxide Inorganic Compounds

Abstract

Preparation of deuterium oxide and hydrated compounds were carried out simultaneously and side by side from starting materials which had been heated to produce their anhydrous form.

A number of these crystals were grown and in each case the crystal growth was carefully observed. These crystals, some of which have been grown up to one to two cm. in length, were removed from the mother liquor from time to time for further experimentation, particularly for x-ray diffraction studies and other physical and chemical investigations. In the case of a colored compound its color intensity was noted as a quantitative measure to ascertain the degree of solubility of the compound under investigation.
