Abstract
In this contribution to the school we wish to discuss the application of elastic neutron scattering techniques to the elucidation of defect structures. In particular we will address the problems of obtaining information on static defects in complex materials using powder diffraction and also the investigation of the dynamic defect structures found at high temperatures in the so-called superionically conducting materials.
