Abstract
The population kinetics of ascitic cells, in vivo and in vitro cultivated ones, are similar in their main features. Following the lag and log periods of growth, the proliferation of ascitic cells is limited by stationary phase, too. The prolongation of their generation time, the decrease of the growth fraction, DNA synthesis and mitotic index (MI), as well as the accumulation of specific G1 and G2 inhibitors, characterize this period (1–6).
