Abstract

Although we now recognise it as an important landmark in the history of Neuroscience, it is clear in retrospect that Papez’s paper “A Proposed Mechanism of Emotion”* aroused little interest in the neuroscience community for a full decade after its publication in 1937, and in fact, remained largely unnoticed until after Papez’s death in 1958.
