Recollections of James Papez and Comments on the Evolution of the Limbic System Concept

Abstract

Although we now recognise it as an important landmark in the history of Neuroscience, it is clear in retrospect that Papez’s paper “A Proposed Mechanism of Emotion”* aroused little interest in the neuroscience community for a full decade after its publication in 1937, and in fact, remained largely unnoticed until after Papez’s death in 1958.
