Abstract
Computers are being used to help perform research by permitting computations not humanly possible otherwise, either because they would take too long or because they could not be done at all. Often, the results of such research make it possible finally to provide a service, either to other research projects, to teachers, or for patient services. Four of these presentations call attention to four such services and speak very well for themselves. The presentation by Dr. Robert Macey is of a different kind, placed in this session because it gives a basis for an interface between human thought or endeavor and electronic computers. It therefore introduces a clearer understanding of the entire conference.
