Abstract

Webster defines the term “conservation” as a conserving, preserving, guarding, or protecting; a keeping in a safe or entire state. It is also quite common for the term to be considered as synonymous with hoarding. The latter view is not what is intended in the Bureau of Mines conservation program. Rather, conservation is viewed in a much broader sense to mean the wise and efficient use of our natural resources.
