A Vibrating Coil Magnetometer for Use at Very Low Temperatures

Abstract

The vibrating coll [1,2] or vibrating sample [3] magnetometer is widely used for the measurement of magnetic moments because high sensitivity and relative accuracy can be achieved together with straightforward construction and operation. A discussion of these points vis-a-vis other methods can be traced through the above references. This paper describes a modification of the vibrating coil type of magnetometer for use in the magnetic cooling range of temperature, i.e., below 0.3°K.
