The words “liquefied natural gas” are probably the most exciting words in the worldwide natural gas industry today. At the First International LNG Conference held in Chicago in April, 1968, 765 representatives from 335 companies and 16 countries were in attendance. Not only were technical representatives present, but there were in attendance a large number of executives whose interest was in the business aspects of LNG. Why is there all of this excitement about LNG? The reason is quite well summed up by J. F. Ebdon, editor of Gas, in the March 1969 issue.
