The first task in processing sonar information is detecting the echo signal reflected from the object of detection. The following factors are significant in the execution of this task for sonar [13,14,22,36]:
  1. 1.

    the form of the echo signal may not match the form of the emitted signal in the general case;

  2. 2.

    the echo signal is received in the presence of a combination of reverberation and noise interference;

  3. 3.

    sonar conditions (underwater observation conditions) are extremely changeable in time and space.
