Abstract

When emitted signals propagate they are partially scattered by various irregularities in the water medium and by unevenness in its boundaries. Such scattering could be caused by air bubbles, objects of biological origin (fish, crustaceans, microorganisms), temperature irregularities, unevenness of the sea surface, unevenness of the bottom, irregularities in the bottom’s composition, and so on.
