Abstract
We propose the construction of a four-coil superconducting SQUID magnetometer to search for relic monopoles trapped in sedimentary iron ores of age 2 × 108 years. Such monopoles may be released when the ore is heated through its Curie point as part of the industrial processing of the ores, permitting industrial-scale batches to be sampled. Engineering design of the device has been completed.
