Monopoles in Pulsar PSR 1929+10

Using x-ray observations of old radio pulsars, especially PSR 1929+10, one can derive a very stringent bound on the flux of monopoles times cross-section for catalysis, viz., (F/cm−2 s−1 sr−1) × (σ v/10−28cm2) ⩽ 6.7 × 10−22. If the monopoles captured by the main sequence progenitor are also included, the limit improves by about 6 orders-of-magnitude.
