Photoinduced Aggregation and Dissociation of Ag and Au Clusters in Rare Gas Matrices

Abstract

Absorption bands, emission bands and lifetimes of Ag, Ag2, Ag3, Au, Au2, Au3 and Aun clusters are reported. No photosensitive processes of Ag centers in annealed rare gas crystals have been found. Au atoms in Ar crystals are bleached by the formation of Au2 and Au3 clusters. In Xe matrix a threshold and a quadratic dependence for the bleaching efficiency of Au atoms are observed.
