Studies of the Reactivity and Collision Induced Dissociation of Metal Clusters: Aluminum Cluster Ions, Aln+ (n=3–26), with Oxygen

The reactivity and collision induced dissociation of size selected metal cluster ions with up to twenty-six atoms have been investigated using a low energy ion beam apparatus. Recent results on the collision induced dissociation of bare aluminum cluster ions; on the reactions between aluminum cluster ions and oxygen; and on the collision induced dissociation of aluminum clusters with one and two chemisorbed oxygen atoms are summarized and discussed.
