Primary Prevention from an “Ecological Perspective”

Abstract

In Lane County, Oregon, Community Mental Health Consultants, Inc. has been developing and testing prevention programs for five years under research/demonstration grants from Oregon State Mental Health Division and from the Special and Innovative Projects Branch of the National Institute of Mental Health. We now have forty-two projects underway in the community, hosted by a variety of community agencies and groups, ranging from Senior Services, Inc., the County Juvenile Department, Displaced Homemakers/Widowed Services Department, neighborhood associations, community schools and other groups.
