Abstract

The picture is not pretty. Physical attractiveness touches practically every corner of human existence and it does so with great impact. The research thoroughly documents the advantages of higher physical attractiveness and the disadvantages of lower physical attractiveness. Preferential and detrimental treatment operates regardless of age, culture, or society. Overall, there is a bias in favor of those higher in physical attractiveness and against those lower profilerates.
