Lasers in Chemical Analysis

  • W. W. Duley

By way of introduction to the use of lasers in chemical analysis Tables 5.1 and 5.2 summarize many of the laser-based analytical techniques discussed in this chapter together with primary areas of utility. While several of these represent significant advances over conventional technology others are novel but have not yet found wide application. Other laser applications relate to the improvement of standard analytical devices, e.g., the use of laser sampling in gas chromatography.
