Local Atomic Environments in the Manganese-Aluminum Icosahedral Phase

The atomic scale structure of icosahedral phase MnAl was derived from experimental diffraction data. The resulting structure is compared to theoretical work and to other experimental data. A large array of this self-modulated structure, which is space-filling, was used for site topology studies.
