Intrinsic Defects in Insulating Incommensurate Crystals

Abstract

In spite of a considerable amount of studies in incommensurate systems, relatively little attention has been paid to the role that intrinsic defects can play. The aim of this paper is less to give a complete view on the theoretical and experimental situation than to present the fundamental ideas and some of their confirmations.
