Abstract

In order to learn about, and prepare for, a possible nationwide, public, switched broadband system, the Swedish Telecommunications Administration (Televerket) plans to introduce a small-scale test network in 1979, with approximately one hundred extensions in Stockholm and in Norrköping, 200 km south of the capital. The bandwidth will be 5.5 MHz, which will allow such technologies as videotelephone, conference television, security television and superfast facsimile.
