Multi-Index Permittivity Tensors of a Homogeneous Isotropic Plasma

Abstract

In the present chapter we use Vlasov’s self-consistent system of equations to obtain explicit expressions for the multi-index permittivity tensors of an isotropic plasma, i.e., a plasma without external fields; these form the basis of the nonlinear theory. We study in detail the first two nonlinear tensors, Sijs and Viajb, in the generalized kinetic equation (3.22) and the nonlinear dispersion equation (4.12), which we have derived in Chapter I.
