Melting Behaviour of Linear Polyethylene Fractions

Abstract

The advent of commercial differential thermal analyzers of high resolution requiring only milligram quantities of samples has provided the polymer chemist with a powerful tool for studying the melting behaviour of semi-crystalline polymers. In the present case, a Perkin Elmer DSC-1 has been used to study the relationship between melting characteristics and molecular weight of two slightly different linear polyethylenes.
