Heavy Flavour Production in High Energy Electron-Proton Collisions: Theoretical Issues and Expectations at HERA and Beyond

Abstract

I review the status of the theory of heavy quark production in ep collisions. The various production modes are discussed and cross-section estimates given. Uncertainties in the theoretical cross-section calculation are investigated. The characteristics of heavy quark production inep collisions are outlined.
