Models for Phase Transitions in Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals: Theory and Experimental Results

Abstract

It has been shown1 that the smectic C* (Sm C*) liquid crystalline phase is ferroelectric if the molecules are chiral and have a permanent dipole moment transverse to their long molecular axes.
