Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Zinc Uptake and Absorption

Abstract

Considerable effort has been directed toward improving our understanding of the mechanism of zinc absorption. These studies have provided some basic concepts, but they have also underscored the complexity of the process involved. A useful strategy in these experiments is to partition the overall absorption processes into various steps or phases (Cousins, 1982). Nevertheless, it is necessary to retain the ability to integrate findings with isolated systems into a unified model.
