Customization and Tailoring of LIMS

  • Richard R. Mahaffey

In Chapter 3 we defined the relationship between LIMS and laboratory automation by stating that LIMS functions provide a backbone on which to build laboratory automation. If we assume that this relation is fairly accurate, then it follows that installing a LIMS must not be an immediate solution to all laboratory automation needs, or nothing would have to be built. The relation implies that a LIMS still needs work after installation to achieve maximum benefit through laboratory automation.
